Summary: Prine Is Live And Kicking
Comment: This is a great live show by the master songster John Prine,may be one of the best live albums recorded.Just listen to the explosiveness in the opening intro on Picture Show,or this rockin' blues rendition of Quit Hollerin' At Me,better than the studio version,or the comical Space Monkey,and one of my favorites,Jesus The Missing Years and of course there's Illegal Smile in which Prine always has the audience sing along.Also,listen to the arrangements on another one of my favorites,Lake Marie,incredible.This is a good time live recording,every song is a winner from the genius John Prine,although the last three tracks are studio cuts and not the best J. P. songs out there. There is also another live album from Mr. Prine which is also excellent,more or less like a greatest hits compilation.

Summary: There is no one quite like John Prine!
Comment: It was in the early 80's during John Prine's Nashville stint, on Country Music Television that I first heard of John Prine. He had a video for "The Sound of Lonliness" which is on the German Afternoons CD. I was clearly moved by the simple video, his voice, and the message of lonliness in the song. It was a little different that what was considered country at the time.
To listen to John Prine music means that you really listen to the lyrics and his unique stories in song. You don't just listen to John, you become engrossed in the humorous, sad, lifting and versatile music. It anything can be said, John can write about it.
The LIVE ON TOUR is excellent! Sound is superb, and the selections are creative!

Summary: Just got back from his concert
Comment: I just got home from a John Prine concert about an hour ago. It was an incredible experience and John really seemed tickled at the response he got from the audience. Soooo, I just had to order this CD as what some other reviewers have stated is definitely right on--you must see him perform live. This CD will help keep the concert experience alive for some time to come.

Summary: Excellent live album
Comment: First impression: remarkable, crystal-clear production! Somebody finally figured out how to record a decent live album. The rockers are clear as a bell and songs intended to be intimate come off as such. Notable funny moments in "Jesus: The Missing Years" and "Space Monkey"...where I laughed until it hurt. But the real corker is an absolutely brilliant, lead-off "Picture in a Picture Show". So John, when is it you are coming to Indy?
